  • Ranger XLT Hybrid now $8k cheaper in updated form.
  • Updates from diesels carriedd over to PHEV lineup.
  • Wildtrak Hybrid continues, but Stormtrak has been dropped.

As predicted back in May, Ford New Zealand has dropped the price of its Ranger Hybrid substantially as it enters model year "2026.5"  - aligning it with the rest of the updated (diesel) range introduced earlier this year.

Mechanically unchanged, but Ranger Hybrid is now $4-8k cheaper.

However, Ford New Zealand is doing it a little bit differently to Australia. Both countries have quietly dropped the Hybrid-specific flagship Stormtrak model and kept the Wildtrak. But while Australia has discontinued the XLT in favour of a basic XL Hybrid, NZ has elected to keep the XLT and pass on the entry-level version.

That still gives Ford's Kiwi arm more pricing credibility against the high-profile Chinese competition. At $74,990 (an $8k reduction over the previous model), the Ranger XLT Hybrid is $4k cheaper than BYD's new Shark 6 Performance, the only version that matches the Ford's 3.5-tonne tow rating (if that's your thing).

However, the Shark 6 is also available in standard specification for $71,990. Both BYDs still offer twice the electric range of the Ranger Hybrid, which is mechanically unchanged.

As with the diesel models, Ranger Hybrid drops the chrome trim for matte and gloss-black exterior finishes. The XLT gets an upsized 12.4-inch infotainment screen (previously 8in) to match the rest of the lineup.

The $85,990 (reduced by $4k) Wildtrak Hybrid also matches the upgrades for the diesel models and the hero Cyber Orange colour has been replaced by the new (and even brighter) Ignite Orange.
