Ford New Zealand is lifting its game in ute and van modification with a new programme called Pro Convertor (FPC), a "strategic initiative designed to deliver high-quality, integrated vehicle conversions and customisations to strengthen its market-leading commercial vehicle line-up".
The company says it has identified core industries where specialised vehicle conversions are required, and moved to connect commercial and fleet customers with the right Ford-certified specialists across the country. A similar scheme was launched by Ford Australia last year.
These use-cases include utility companies, construction, emergency services, forestry and recreational overlanding.
To achieve approved FPC status, modifiers must be assessed by Ford engineers. These specialists are then certified for specific segments and modification types, providing customers with a "seamless, OEM-grade finish".
At launch, the approved Ford Pro Convertors in NZ are Camco Industries and Fleetline, with more joining the programme later this year.
“Every business is unique, and our commercial customers require vehicles that are tailored precisely to their operational needs without compromising on safety, quality, or reliability,” says Annaliese Atina, managing director of Ford NZ.
The certified converter’s warranty duration aligns with Ford’s new vehicle warranty.
Ford NZ will continue to offer its range of Ford Genuine Accessories and dealer-fit Ford Licensed Accessories. The company says FPC complements these options by catering to "bespoke, complex, and industry-specific conversions".
