Subaru Of New Zealand has taken the covers off the WRX 2.4T AKA, a special edition release of the famed performance vehicle. The Japanese brand says the "AKA" name roughly translates to their native script for red. It's fitting, as Ignition Red is the only colour option for the ten vehicles that have made their way exclusively to New Zealand.
What's new with this limited version?
It starts with STI styling and upgrades, which includes the body kit, 18-inch black alloys, strut brace, gear shifter, and push-button start. There are also cross-drilled rotors at the front for the manual model.
More than that, the AKA gets a sporty mesh grille, sport bucket seats, and exclusive badging. A numbered keyring with a special presentation box for each model provides the cherry on top of this WRX release.
The sports sedan still features standard WRX fare, such as the 11.6-inch portrait infotainment system and the next-generation EyeSight driver-assistance suite for improved comfort and safety.
As for pricing, the Subaru WRX 2.4T AKA starts at $59,990, with five units allocated for the automatic version and another five for the six-speed manual. The latter could be a particularly compelling option for enthusiasts as manual models are dwindling in the local market.
As we've mentioned, only ten WRX AKAs are available while supplies last. So you better act fast if you're interested in this red-hot WRX.
