Toyota’s in-house tuner, Modellista, has unveiled the stunning Concept Zero at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon.
Based on the all-electric bZ4X SUV, this concept blends retro-futuristic design with modern EV styling. Its bold upgrades hint at the evolution of Toyota’s electric SUVs, with speculation pointing to this design influencing the bZ4X’s upcoming facelift (which might also include a name change!).
A bold new look
The Concept Zero transforms the bZ4X into something entirely new, starting with its eye-catching three-spoke wheels, designed for aerodynamic efficiency.
Modellista swaps the standard black fender cladding for body-coloured panels, giving the car a cleaner and more cohesive silhouette. Sportier side skirts run low along the profile, enhancing its visual impact.
The reworked front bumper features a sleek light strip in place of traditional intakes, paired with angular headlight covers and a sharper lower chin with integrated fins.
At the rear, the theme continues with subtle LED accents and a diffuser extension, tying the design together with a retro-futuristic flair.
High-tech interior updates
Inside, Modellista leans into the its bZ4X concept’s cutting-edge theme, incorporating ambient lighting that flows across the dashboard and centre console.
The glass roof and armrests feature custom graphics, while Modellista branding is subtly scattered throughout. These enhancements create a clean, minimalist cabin designed to look as advanced as it feels.
Styling for the future
The Concept Zero doesn’t include performance upgrades, keeping the bZ4X's standard all-wheel-drive (AWD), which delivers 160kW. Instead, it focuses on reimagining the electric SUV's design potential, offering a glimpse into what might come next.
Alongside the Concept Zero, Modellista showcased the Embryo, an automotive sculpture reflecting its future design philosophy.
With its flowing lines, asymmetry and rhythmically pulsing lighting, the Embryo represents the tuner’s bold exploration of form and innovation.
