It's been a long wait for Kiwi buyers of the all-new twin-turbo V6 Nissan Patrol. The new-generation "Y63" model made its global debut way back in late-2024, and there's a been a long wait for right-hand drive markets.
That wait isn't over, but Nissan NZ has now confirmed that customer deliveries will start in the first quarter of 2027, and it has opened expressions of interest on its website, with a promise that those registered will be first to get further details when they're available.
Final specifications and pricing are still yet to be announced, but much of the watershed model is a known quantity (well, it's been out for two years already).
For the first time, there's no V8 engine: Patrol is powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol. Producing 317kW/700Nm, it's paired with a new 9-speed automatic transmission. The new powertrain delivers 19kW more power, sharper response and 140Nm more torque than its predecessor. Peak torque is also available earlier in the rev range.
The Patrol’s 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 also incorporates a scavenger oil pump to maintain consistent engine lubrication during extreme off-road driving, including steep inclines and off-camber terrain - a technology Nissan says draw on its experience with the GT-R.
Some models will offer adaptive air suspension for the first time. Paired with Nissan's new intelligent dynamic damping (e-Damper), which continuously adjusts to changing road and terrain conditions, the system enables the vehicle to raise or lower its ride height to suit the driving environment.

Nissan claims biometric cooling is both a Patrol and segment first: it intelligently monitors passenger temperatures upon entry and automatically adjusts climate control settings.
Select variants will feature massage functionality for front seats. First and second-row passengers get "zero-gravity" seats, which ensure "optimal posture and support... during long journeys".
The new seats are designed around the NASA-established ideal "neutral posture" position, providing continuous support from the hips to the back. They were developed through joint research with Yamazaki Laboratory at Keio University, using a seat simulator and a musculo-skeletal model for seating analysis. Nissan says it has "fundamentally" changed the design of the seats.
The Patrol's cabin features a Monolith display, presenting infotainment, navigation, vehicle and connectivity information. On some models, the Monolith features dual 14.3-inch screens. A head-up display features on select models for the first time.
Also available is a 12-speaker Klipsch premium audio system, tuned exclusively for the vehicle. Developed in collaboration with Panasonic Automotive, the Klipsch system features a 12-channel, 600-watt amplifier.
