A piece of automotive and sporting history has hit the market in the form of Michael Jordan's former 2007 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition. The rare V8-powered grand tourer is currently being sold by a used car dealership in Miami, Florida.
A legend's ride
With only 150 examples ever produced, the 722 Edition is a highly sought-after variant of the already exclusive SLR McLaren.
This particular car, finished in Crystal Antimon Grey Metallic, boasts a touch over 24,300km on the odometer, proving its careful ownership under the Chicago Bulls basketball legend.
Champion performance
Under the bonnet lies a 5.4-litre supercharged V8 engine churning out a formidable 478kW and 780Nm of torque. This translates to a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of a blistering 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 336km/h.
Distinctive 19-inch wheels, upgraded brakes, and a carbon fibre front splitter set the 722 Edition apart from the standard SLR McLaren, while its lightweight construction further enhances its performance credentials.
The interior blends black leather, Alcantara and carbon fibre, accented by red contrast stitching. While the car remains largely stock, it has been fitted with aftermarket wheels from Anrky, adding a touch of personalisation.
A worthy investment
TBTFW, the Miami dealership selling the car, has set the asking price at a cool US$649,995 (around NZ$1 million).
This might seem steep, but considering the rarity and historical significance of the car, coupled with recent auction results for similar low-mileage 722 models fetching even higher prices, it may well be worth paying for the right buyer.
