The brutal and spectacular Ferrari F80 made its local debut at the Melbourne Grand Prix.

Ferrari's latest hypercar, the brutal and spectacular F80, has made a guest appearance at the opening race of the 2025 Formula 1 season at Albert Park in Melbourne. The highly limited model - just 799 will be made - was presented overnight at "Casa Ferrari", an exclusive trackside venue, by Scuderia Ferrari drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.

The premiere provided 400 "valued clients and guests" with their first in-person look at Ferrari’s most powerful road car to date. Built to celebrate the company's 80th anniversary (just as the F40 was built to celebrate its 40th - yes, if you had a poster of one on your wall as a kid, you are that old), Ferrari describes the F80 as a "vision of future performance and style" and a "true testament to Ferrari’s relentless pursuit of performance and innovation".

400 Ferrari clients and guests were present to see Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc pull the covers off the F80.

The F80 boasts a monstrous 883kW from a V6-hybrid powertrain derived from the 499SP racing car that will propel it from 0-100km/h in just 2.15 seconds, with a 0-200km/h time of 5.75 seconds and a new record lap time at Fiorano for good measure.

"It’s crazy. It’s such an incredible car. I love the look of it, and when you drive it, it feels so light. And that’s really what strikes me. I really, really enjoyed it," said Charles Leclerc in regard to his experience of the F80's performance on track at Fiorano.

Ferrari F1 drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton spoke of their excitement for the first race of the season.

Leclerc, who won in Melbourne in 2022, also expressed his love for the city and his determination to bring Ferrari back to the top.

"We have a lot of support everywhere as Ferrari drivers, but here it’s even more special. I love the environment, it’s probably one of my favourite cities to go to every year. I just feel good. I won here in 2022 and it was probably one of my best weekends ever and that motivates me even more."

Lewis Hamilton also shared his excitement about being in Melbourne for his first race with Ferrari, calling it the "best first race that we can have" despite being jet-lagged.

"This is my first year with Ferrari, my first race with Ferrari. I remember growing up watching the Grand Prix and to be getting into the red car tomorrow, it’s just so iconic."

Visitors to Albert Park will have the opportunity to see the Ferrari F80 up close as it is on display at the front of Casa Ferrari, located near Gate 1, until Sunday, March 16.
