Lambo with a famous former owner on the market in the US
We don't like getting into politics much on Driven, mainly because it's not really our area of expertise.
However, that never stopped current Presidential Candidate Donald Trump — whose old 1997 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster is now for sale on eBay.
The beautiful monster was ordered specifically for Mr. Trump. As such, surprise surprise, it comes with a small handful of little extras and oddities.
It was the only Le Mans Blue VT Roadster made in 1997 and comes with 18" wheels instead of the standard 17" (funny how wheels have evolved — my poxy little Suzuki Swift wears 17" wheels from the factory). The bumpers come with extra 3M protection, as Trump hates stone-chips as much as he hates guacamole. And to top it all off there's little Trump insignias dotting various panels, to assure you of what this car really is.
In defense of Mr. Trump, he knows how to drive a manual — something rare in America. This is evidenced by the ‘stick’ protruding from the Lambo's floor pan.
It's worth noting that the Lambo is in stellar condition. Despite having 24,586km on the clock (a fair bit for something touted as a highly collectible piece), every panel and every interior surface looks as it did when it rolled off the factory floor almost 20 years ago.
The all-wheel drive, V12-powered, Smurf-themed machine has a starting bid of $460,000USD ($630,000NZD), which isn't particularly wonderful pricing for a Diablo. But, if Trump manages to win his election against Hillary Clinton, then this would become quite an investment.
It's a pity he won't.
