Xiaomi has officially launched its latest flagship electric vehicle (EV), the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, with a starting price of RMB 529,900 (NZ$129,000) - a whopping 35% cheaper than initially announced last year.
Designed to redefine high-performance luxury EVs, the SU7 Ultra builds on the SU7 sedan with an infusion of extreme speed, cutting-edge aerodynamics and track-ready engineering straight from the factory.
Benchmark-setting performance
Xiaomi claims the SU7 Ultra is the world’s fastest mass-produced four-door sedan. Its tri-motor setup produces a staggering 1138kW, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 1.98 seconds.
The electric supercar is engineered for a top speed of 350km/h, setting a new performance benchmark in its category.

Xiaomi’s self-developed HyperEngine V8s electric motors help the SU7 Ultra reach an industry-leading (and mind-boggling) 27,200rpm.
It also features the CATL Qilin 2.0 battery, delivering an output of 1330kW with a rapid-charging capability of 10 to 80% in just 11 minutes. The 630km CLTC range ensures usability beyond the track.
Track-proven engineering
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is track-optimised from the ground up. It has a Nurburgring-developed peak chassis system, featuring a torque-vectoring tri-motor system that dynamically adjusts power 500 times per second for superior handling.
Xiaomi has ensured thermal stability, allowing two consecutive hot laps on the Nurburgring Nordschleife without overheating. It was also on this track that the SU7 Ultra (6:46.874) eviscerated the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT's lap record by 20 seconds.
Xiaomi has further demonstrated the car’s capabilities on China’s top circuits, securing the title of fastest production car at Shanghai International Circuit (2:09.944) and breaking records for four-door sedans at multiple other tracks.
Ultra-lightweight aerodynamics
Xiaomi’s design philosophy prioritises function over form, with every element engineered for performance.
The carbon fibre-intensive body includes a 1.7m² carbon fibre roof, reducing weight by 11kg. The car features a fixed rear spoiler and an active rear diffuser for optimal downforce and aerodynamics. The 285kg downforce rating is comparable to that of a traditional petrol supercar.
Braking performance is equally impressive, with 430mm carbon ceramic discs and Akebono six-piston front callipers, enabling a 100 to 0km/h stopping distance of just 30.8m.
Racing-inspired interior and smart cabin
Inside, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra blends motorsport influences with premium materials. The cabin features Alcantara-wrapped sports seats, a race-inspired flat-bottom carbon fibre steering wheel, and a red Boost button for instant performance bursts.
Xiaomi has integrated its HyperOS Smart Cabin, powered by a Snapdragon 8295 chip, delivering seamless connectivity. The Racetrack Master app provides real-time telemetry, lap timing and post-race analytics. Additional features include dual 50W wireless phone charging, AI voice control, and adjustable ambient lighting.
Xiaomi is also offering optional configurations, including the Racing Package, featuring Bilstein EVO R coilovers, Endless high-performance brake pads and Pirelli P Zero fifth-generation tyres.
A Nurburgring Nordschleife Limited Edition will be available after the model completes its official Nurburgring lap challenge.
Safety innovations
Xiaomi has equipped the SU7 Ultra with advanced safety features, including Mis-Acceleration Inhibition (MAI), which detects unintended throttle input and suppresses acceleration to prevent sudden, unintentional movements - a feature particularly useful in congested areas or parking scenarios.
Additionally, Low-Speed Autonomous Emergency Braking (LAEB) automatically applies the brakes when obstacles are detected at low speeds, reducing collision risks in urban environments.
These systems actively prevent unintended acceleration and enhance urban driving safety. Meanwhile, the battery pack is reinforced with a bulletproof coating, enhancing durability and impact resistance, a unique feature in the EV sector.
Available now... in China
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is now available for purchase exclusively in China through the country's Xiaomi EV App and WeChat Mini Program. Xiaomi reports accepting over 10,000 pre-orders mere hours post-launch.
As Xiaomi’s first step into high-performance EVs, the SU7 Ultra is set to shake up the segment, offering track-level performance with cutting-edge technology and luxury.
According to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, the SU7 Ultra has garnered interest from drivers of BMW 5 series, Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-class models, and the vehicle's pricing reflects that.
It will be interesting to see whether Xiaomi can make the leap to the international stage within the next few years, as demand for its budget high-performance smart EVs reaches fever pitch.
