Toyota has confirmed it will unveil an all-new electric SUV on March 11.
A single silhouetted teaser image and video suggest the model remains faithful to the 2022 bZ Compact SUV concept, featuring a sleek fastback profile and boldly sculpted fenders.
While Toyota has kept details under wraps, the teaser hints at a raised stance combined with a coupe-like roofline, a design aimed at delivering what the automaker calls “elevated driving dynamics.”
It also claims the new battery electric vehicle (BEV) will offer “surprising space, comfort and versatility,” promising strong emotional appeal for prospective buyers. The new compact SUV is set to join the bZ4X in Toyota's BEV lineup.
Name still a mystery

Toyota has not revealed the electric SUV's name, though speculation suggests it may move away from the ‘bZ’ moniker.
Reports indicate that even the existing bZ4X could receive a more conventional nameplate later this year, making a departure from alphanumeric badging likely for future models.
Expected dimensions and performance
Technical specifications remain undisclosed, but the original concept measured 4.54m in length and 1.56m in height - making it 152mm shorter and 90mm lower than the Toyota bZ4X.
Battery and powertrain details are still under wraps, though Toyota’s new Urban Cruiser EV, which is smaller, offers 49kWh and 61kWh battery options.
If the new SUV follows suit, it could adopt similar power outputs ranging from 106kW in single-motor guise to 135kW in a dual-motor setup.
A crucial addition to Toyota’s EV strategy
With a relatively slow start in the full-electric segment, Toyota is under pressure to expand its BEV lineup.
This upcoming crossover SUV could be a pivotal model in strengthening the brand’s EV credentials, particularly if it combines Toyota’s reputation for reliability with modern battery technology and practical usability. More details will be revealed at the official debut next month.
