I can't work out whether this current climate is a perfect or awful time to be living in a campervan. But either way, this thoroughly custom 1983 Chevrolet C30 is one of the most unique, most well finished vehicles of its kind.
Christened as 'Brown Sugar', the C30 was a River City Rods SEMA build some years ago, and is much more than just a shiny, slammed bow-tie with a box on the rear.
Apart from the incredible bodywork and tucked wheels, this Chevrolet also features a heavily licked 5.3-litre LS V8 under the bonnet (or, in this case, 'the hood') hooked up to a four-speed automatic.
A GSI suspension package (air-based, allowing the vehicle to be lifted when required for more comfy cruising) and new watts linkage are among the other mechanical changes.
It's inside where the magic happens. The camper is fully loaded with every requisite creature comfort you'd expect in such a vehicle; with a handful of extra neat touches.
There's fresh water, and a full kitchen, toilet, and shower set-up as you'd expect. But, it's the way it's finished that makes it stand out. Polished wood floors, red velour on the ceiling, and a heap of hand-crafted goodies.
These include the sink, which is fashioned out of an old Coca-Cola cooler. There's also an ice chest that's created purely fron scratch. The layers upon layers of wood are complemented by brown velour and plaid upholstery; creating a retro (but modern) aesthetic.
Naturally, all this splendour comes at a price. Brown Sugar is currently listed for sale on eBay and, with two days to go, bidding has hit US$100,000 ($171,000).
"It was a top 40 Battle Of The Builders contender at SEMA, Street Trucks Top 10 pick and said to be one of the most photographed vehicles at SEMA by Goodguys Rod & Customs Magazine," says the seller.
"It also brought home the Peoples Choice award at the QCCA Expo Center Rod & Custom Show. A video featuring the truck is coming soon but a full walk around can be provided live to anyone with serious interest.
