Subaru New Zealand has announced the arrival of the WRX Todoroki, a limited edition model set to land in November, marking the 30th anniversary of the iconic WRX.
With only ten units available in the country, this exclusive release is bound to ignite excitement among Subaru enthusiasts.
The WRX Todoroki draws inspiration from the Japanese kanji symbol "轟," meaning "roar" or "famous." This reference speaks to the car's distinctive presence and performance. Finished in Subaru’s signature WR Blue, the Todoroki is a bold statement in both design and engineering.
Priced at $64,990, this special edition WRX arrives as a sedan-only variant with a six-speed manual transmission. The WRX Todoroki retains Subaru’s 2.4-litre Boxer engine, which delivers 202kW/350Nm.
Subaru has also packed the WRX Todoroki with features that elevate it beyond the standard WRX.
Each of the ten units is equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels finished in matte grey, wrapped in high-performance Bridgestone Potenza S007 tyres.
Brembo brakes provide exceptional stopping power, with six-piston callipers on the front and two-piston callipers at the rear, paired with ventilated and drilled discs for optimal performance.
Inside, drivers will find Recaro front seats designed to offer both comfort and control, ideal for spirited driving.
A dual-pinion electric power steering system, coupled with specifically tuned suspension components, ensures precise handling, making the WRX Todoroki a true driver's car. The iconic STI-style rear spoiler further enhances the car’s aerodynamics and aesthetics.
Subaru New Zealand General Manager Tim Barns-Lawton highlighted the significance of this release: "With a legacy built on rally performance and thrilling drives, the WRX commands attention wherever it goes. Embodying the essence of Todoroki, it continues to resonate with car enthusiasts worldwide."
He added that the Todoroki’s exclusivity, with only ten units available, combined with its high-performance upgrades, makes it a highly sought-after model.
Each car will come with a numbered presentation box, adding to its collectible nature. As an additional incentive, Subaru is gifting an STI watch valued at approximately $1000 to each buyer, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the WRX.
With only ten WRX Todoroki models coming to New Zealand, interested buyers are encouraged to act quickly. Pre-orders are now open through authorised Subaru centres across the country. Given that the regular models are currently sold out and the WRX Todoroki's scarcity, these units are expected to be snapped up swiftly.
Subaru of New Zealand is no stranger to special releases for the WRX, previously introducing other limited versions like the WRX AKA, WRX STI Saigo and WRX Tatsu.
