BMW INCLUDES NEW FEATURES THROUGHOUT THE X RANGE

BMW New Zealand has added a turbocharged petrol variant to its X range of sports activity vehicles.

The BMW X4 xDrive28i four-door SUV introduces an intermediate petrol model to the German brand's turbocharged diesel X4 range.

BMW says the new model reflects increased demand for a well-specified petrol SUV option in the New Zealand market. It says the new engine generates 180kW of power at 5000rpm, and delivers 350Nm of torque from just 1250rpm.

The new model has a claimed 0-100km/h time of 6.5 seconds, and claimed fuel usage of 7.3 l/100km. CO2 emissions are a low 169 g/km. Power is delivered via BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system, with a standard eight-speed sports automatic transmission with Steptronic.

The X4 xDrive28i features a "Surround View Camera" system as standard, providing a virtual bird's-eye view of the vehicle. Along with Surround View, the X4 xDrive28i includes electric folding exterior mirrors featuring an automatic anti-dazzle function to reduce distraction at night.

The BMW X4 xDrive28i sits between the existing xDrive20d and xDrive35d models, featuring increased standard specification over xDrive20d, including the M Sport package.

Inside the X4, heated, leather-covered sports seats and anthracite headliner provide a sports-themed focus, along with brushed aluminium trim finishers on the dashboard. Navigation System Professional is standard, featuring an 8.8-inch screen and iDrive controller with touchpad.

Integrated with the navigation system and central information display is BMW ConnectedDrive Services, featuring Real Time Traffic Information, Concierge Services and internet functionality.

The new intermediate model will sell for $99,000 plus on-road costs, compared with the X4 xDrive20d at $94,900 plus ORC, and the top-end X4 xDrive35d at $128,000 plus ORC.
