The Proteros Blade Nagual is tangible proof that automotive passion and creativity know no bounds, even in challenging times.
Designed and built in Ukraine, this one-of-a-kind sports car is the brainchild of designer Grig Tobolin. It's a remarkable feat of coachbuilding, transforming a humble 1989 Mazda RX-7 into a striking, bespoke creation.
The Blade Nagual debuted in 2018 at the Aviation Museum in Kyiv, showcasing Tobolin's unique vision. It's a head-turner with sharp lines and an aggressive stance, drawing inspiration from iconic cars like the Lamborghini Miura and Countach. The bespoke bodywork is carefully crafted, leaving little trace of the original RX-7 donor car.
The exterior is a visual treat, featuring fender-mounted headlights, prominent skirts and Lamborghini Murcielago alloy wheels. The rear is particularly striking, with its wraparound glass, integrated ducktail spoiler and quad exhaust pipes, reminiscent of '80s muscle cars. The Alsa Candy Turquoise Blue paint job further accentuates its unique character.
Underneath the stunning exterior lies the heart of a Mazda RX-7, its 13B rotary engine. Tobolin has enhanced its performance, reportedly producing 157kW, and hinted at further modifications in the past. The engine is paired with a manual gearbox, promising an engaging driving experience.
Unfortunately, Tobolin has stated that he's unable to continue the project, making this a rare opportunity to own a piece of automotive artistry. The Blade Nagual is a testament to Tobolin's passion and skill, and it's sure to turn heads and spark conversations wherever it goes.
The Proteros Blade Nagual is currently up for sale for US$70,000 (around NZ$113,000). While a significant sum for a used Mazda, especially since the vehicle has logged 112,000km, it reflects the countless hours and skill poured into this unique creation. The car is located near Kyiv, Ukraine, and the seller is even willing to deliver it to nearby EU countries.
