Pop quiz: what's Porsche's first-ever production vehicle? It's the 356 from 1948, of course. That iconic car eventually spawned the 356 Speedster, a now sought-after classic convertible.

Using vintage models as inspiration for all-electric revivals has been in vogue for the past few years, and Porsche is doing no different. The German automaker has unveiled the Vision 357 Speedster, an all-electric homage to the 356 Speedster.

This concept vehicle using an electrified power plant is curious, as earlier this year, Porsche also revealed the Vision 357 Coupe, which uses a 368-kW, Cayman-derived engine.

Meanwhile, the Vision 357 Speedster runs on the same dual motors and battery as the Mission R race car. That unit delivers nearly 800 kW and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds.

As for looks, the 357 concept stays close to its ICE-powered ancestor but gains more appropriate modern fitments. It receives a two-tone body with front and rear diffusers, prominent side skirts, and 20-inch magnesium wheels.

Step inside, and you'll see a somewhat minimalist cabin with digital instrumentation, lots of carbon fibre, and a race-ready steering wheel. Although it looks like a two-seater, a tonneau cover blocks the space where the passenger seat should be, emphasising the 357's preference for single-seat fun.

The Porsche Vision 357 Speedster recently debuted at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed, but you can still see it this September at the Porsche Rennsport Reunion 7 in Salinas, California.
