MG Motor is driving forward its presence in New Zealand with the opening of two new dealerships on the South Island, signalling a significant expansion for the brand.
This strategic move increases MG’s footprint from four to six locations across South Island, enhancing its reach in key regions, including Marlborough and Timaru.
This expansion comes as MG celebrates its centenary year, marking a significant milestone with a burgeoning model lineup that caters to a growing demand for zero and low-emission vehicles.
Arek Zywot, Country Manager of MG New Zealand, highlighted the brand's strong year, stating, "The centenary of MG Motor is proving to be a momentous one for the marque here in New Zealand as the brand undergoes exciting expansion."
MG has been on quite a run. Notably, the MG4 has been recognised extensively, emerging as the overall winner of our own AA DRIVEN Car Guide NZ Car of the Year 2023.
The MG4 was also recently awarded the 2023 Car of the Year by the New Zealand Motoring Writers Guild.
Marlborough MG
The new Marlborough dealership, spearheaded by Dealer Principal Simon Wakelin and his team, is poised to serve the local community with a full range of MG models, including the acclaimed MG4.
Wakelin expressed excitement about the brand's momentum, crediting recent Car of the Year successes both locally and internationally for enhancing MG's reputation.
Located at Mayfield Motorworld in Blenheim, Marlborough MG is set to become a pivotal part of the region's automotive landscape, offering sales, servicing, and parts.
Timaru MG

Timaru MG, the third southernmost MG dealership in the country, opens its doors to South Canterbury, ready to showcase the full MG range.
Business Manager Keryn Pow and Sales Consultant Pierre Guinan are at the forefront, aiming to bring the latest MG models, including the high-performance MG4 XPower, to the local market.
The Timaru dealership promises a comprehensive MG experience, from new vehicle sales to dedicated service and parts facilities, located at 19 Theodosia St and a separate premise for after-sales support.
