Mercedes-AMG is edging closer to launching its all-electric flagship sedan, peeling back more camouflage to reveal a sleek shape that closely channels its 2022 Vision AMG Concept roots.
This marks AMG’s biggest step yet into the EV ring, and it’s squaring off against heavyweights like the Porsche Taycan and Audi RS e-tron GT.
More star power than ever
The prototype wears aggressive lighting signatures, including bold LED DRLs shaped like the Three-Pointed Star - a design also filtering into new CLA models, though uniquely exaggerated for this EV.
There's no traditional grille up front, but functional slats at the lower bumper hint at cooling duties. Around the back, circular LED tail lights echo the star motif, now paired with a deployable rear wing for aerodynamic efficiency at speed.
Its profile leans long and low, riding on aero-optimised multi-spoke wheels that complement the sleek silhouette. The whole package sits on AMG’s dedicated electric architecture, dubbed AMG.EA, setting the foundation for what Affalterbach hopes will be its most technically ambitious model yet.
Four digits, four doors
Powertrain details remain under wraps, but AMG is reportedly chasing a four-figure kilowatt figure - enough to take the fight directly to the Taycan Turbo S and RS e-tron GT Performance.
Underpinning the effort is tech from Sila Nanotechnologies (supplying advanced battery chemistry) and British electric motor specialist Yasa.
Despite the electric pivot, petrol purists needn’t panic. The existing AMG GT 4-Door with its thunderous ICE setup will continue alongside the EV, offering a rare dual-flagship strategy.
No half measures from Affalterbach
Unlike early AMG hybrids that hedged their bets, this EV is going in boots and all. With AMG’s engineering might, a fresh platform, and a bold design language, it's clear the brand isn’t just dipping a toe in - it’s going for a cannonball.
