Can the McLaren 750s get any cooler? Apparently, it can, thanks to a stunning new multi-tone paint finish called "Spectrum Theme."

Developed and applied by McLaren's in-house customisation service, McLaren Special Operations (MSO), Spectrum will be available exclusively for the new 750s. Fitting, as the 750s is the brand's lightest and most capable production supercar yet.

Producing the 750s required deft technical changes on McLaren's part, and the new paint scheme from MSO demanded the same attention to detail. When viewed, Spectrum Theme shifts tonally in separate shades of colour, each part appearing to blend into the last.

The paint finish also features individual stripes that appear to change from light to dark as you walk around. These details achieve the illusion of high speed, even when the vehicle is parked.

Spectrum will come in three flavours: Spectrum Blue, Spectrum Grey and Spectrum Orange. But more adventurous enthusiasts can go a step further with different colourways. McLaren says MSO can formulate new paints to achieve a coherent look outside the three specified colours.

Interested customers can add more personalisation with coloured leather trim, a bespoke dedication plaque, and extended visual carbon fibre door sills with hand-painted MSO logos with the Spectrum effect.

The McLaren 750s has yet to be confirmed for New Zealand, but international prices peg it at $530,000 for the Coupe version and $560,000 for the Spider model.

"The Spectrum Theme takes what we can do at McLaren to the next level. A huge degree of attention and accuracy is required to ensure the lines of the Spectrum are completely sympathetic to the surface of the 750S’s incredible bodywork, and the new techniques we’ve developed to achieve this are a perfect match for the 750’s wide-ranging technical advances," said Michael McDonagh, Director of McLaren Special Operations.

"The increasing complexity of what we can offer to customers, through themes like Spectrum, is testament to the incredible experience and expertise of our paint technicians at MSO," he added.
