From dashboard to driveway
What began as a very small piece of dashboard furniture has expanded into two complete, co-branded Porsche 911 restorations.
Louis Vuitton and Singer's collaboration started with a mechanical Tambour clock designed to detach from the dashboard and work as a desk clock.
The project then grew into two co-branded interpretations of the Type 964-generation 911: a Classic coupe and a Classic Turbo cabriolet.
Louis Vuitton contributed leatherwork, luggage, clothing, accessories and watchmaking details across the project. Singer restored the Classic in California, while the Turbo Cabriolet was completed in England.
Classic coupe packs holiday gear
The Classic wears a vivid combination of saffron, cobalt and yellow drawn from Louis Vuitton's colour palette. Its roof rack can carry a trunk, surfboard or skis, giving the coupe a practical touring element beneath all that tailoring.
Inside, natural leather sets the tone. The mechanical package follows Singer's familiar driver-focused formula, with a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six paired with a six-speed manual gearbox.
Turbo Cabriolet takes a nautical course
The second car was conceived by Nicolas Ghesquière.
Finished in Calcaire Lutétien white, the Classic Turbo cabriolet uses precious and varnished wood alongside nautical design cues.
Its 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six sends power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual. Selectable driving modes and carbon-ceramic brakes add a more contemporary performance layer, although an output figure has not been disclosed.
Neither Louis Vuitton nor Singer has announced New Zealand availability or pricing for the two restorations. For now, they remain singular demonstrations of what can happen when luggage, watchmaking and Porsche restoration share the same brief.
