  • IM Motors will initially build 1000 Jimmy Choo edition L6 sedans for the Chinese market.
  • Two battery choices, with claimed CLTC range reaching 850km.
  • Crystal details, pearlescent blue leather and mother-of-pearl trim distinguish the collaboration.

Crystal shoes meet electric saloon

A name better known for high-end shoes has landed on an electric saloon. IM Motors has revealed a Jimmy Choo edition of its L6, mixing the Chinese electric car's performance credentials with jewellery-like detailing and a deliberately scarce production run.

The changes start with crystal-finished emblems, fender-camera covers and centre-console buttons. Blue brake calipers add another flash of colour outside, while the cabin pairs pearlescent blue leather with mother-of-pearl trim and bespoke signatures.

It is a fashion collaboration rather than a mechanical overhaul, but the result is more thorough than a badge-and-sticker special. The material choices and matching blue theme extend across the exterior and interior, giving the L6 a clearly identifiable look.

Two batteries and four-figure scarcity

IM Motors says the first batch will be limited to 1,000 cars, all intended for China. Buyers can choose between 76kWh and 93kWh battery versions, priced at 234,900 and 249,900 yuan respectively.

That narrow price spread gives customers a relatively straightforward choice between the two battery capacities, although the company has not disclosed whether production will be divided evenly between them.

The headline driving-range figure is up to 850km on China's CLTC test cycle. As with any laboratory range claim, real-world results will vary with speed, weather and driving conditions.

Serious numbers beneath the sparkle

Under the decorative touches sits some substantial electric hardware. IM Motors claims its 800V system can accept up to 396kW, adding as much as 580km of CLTC range in 15 minutes under suitable charging conditions.

The manufacturer also quotes 0–100km/h in 2.74 seconds and a 100–0km/h braking distance of 33m. Those figures put considerable pace behind a collaboration that could otherwise be dismissed as a styling exercise.

For now, the crystal-detailed L6 is a China-market proposition. IM Motors has not announced New Zealand availability, making this a sharp-looking electric oddity to admire from afar rather than a local showroom prospect.
