Diminutive giant-killing Kiwi Mini gets 15 seconds of Hollywood fame with Jay Leno

We've said it before and we'll say it again; Jay Leno is a certified petrol head.

If you don't follow it already, his YouTube channel is one of the best on the net for properly fascinating insight into all manner of cars. Supercar and sports-car thoroughbreds, to on and off-road motorsport gold, to the weird and obscure — Jay is seemingly amused and intrigued by it all.

And this week the car was a New Zealand-built car amusing the great man with the great chin — the Project ’64 Mini Cooper.

Fresh from claiming another record this year at the Bonneville Salt Flats, the Project ’64 team have been claiming industry nods from every direction, including from Mini themselves. Deservedly so of course, given the mammoth task of turning something with the power and aerodynamic figures of a blender being lobbed across a kitchen into such an incredible weapon on the salt.

I could extract quotes and study Mr. Leno's verbage, but I think I'm better off just letting him and his passion speak for itself. Grab some popcorn, get comfy, and listen good.
