Upgraded HSV models announced

Performance car manufacturer HSV has confirmed that the latest version of its GTS, the most powerful performance production car built in Australia, will go on sale here next month.

The Gen-F2 series upgrades include a range of styling enhancements, including the addition of lower air intake "spears" in the front and new pitch black bonnet vents aimed at delivering a more aggresive styling edge.

There will also be new 20-inch light-weight forged 10-spoke alloy wheels, and new contoured side-skirts, along with a revised rear 'diffuser' design.

The new model comes two years after the vehicle was launched, and more than 2000 vehicles have been sold in that time.

"GTS is, unashamedly, the hero of the HSV range, " said HSV's managing director, Tim Jackson.

“Its class-leading levels of performance, design, technology and affordability have driven its sales success and we look forward to that momentum continuing with the new GEN-F2 model”, he said.

The recommended retail price for the Gen F-2 GTS is $117,490 for the manual model, and $119,990 for the automatic, plus on-road costs.

HSV also released details of its new ClubSport R8 LSA models, to be avilable in two variants, the Clubsport R8 LSA and ClubSport R8 Tourer LSA. Both feature HSV's 6.2 litre supercharged LSA V8 power plant.

Key componentry includes

• Eaton 4 lobe rotors, 9psi boost, 1.9 litres of air per revolution

• Stand-alone water-to-air, charge-air cooling system

• Stand-alone transmission and differential cooling systems

• Water-to-oil, engine-oil cooling system

• Hi-flow exhaust system with cross-pipe intermediate and Bi-Modal mufflers

• Hi-flow exhaust manifold and catalytic converters

• Unique rear suspension module with 9.9“ differential plus upgraded drive and
prop shafts

• TR6060 (MG9 spec) 6-speed manual transmission with oil cooler and twin plate
clutch

• Optional 6L90E 6-speed heavy duty automatic transmission with oil cooler

Power and torque have been confirmed at 400kW and 671Nm, up from the previous LS3 engine outputs of 340kW and 570Nm.

“Since the introduction of the GEN-F range, we’ve been able to offer ClubSport customers up to 340kW of power, but the adoption of the Supercharged LSA engine will undoubtedly set a new bench-mark for ClubSport performance”, Tim Jackson said.

The addition of the Supercharged LSA engine also brings with it modifications to the vehicle’s suspension set-up. Spring and damper rates have been stiffened to reduce body-roll and further improve corner-entry response while the unique rear suspension module delivers improved rear stiffness and rear braking efficiency.

In addition to the extra engine power, the new model includes extensive styling changes.
