Porsche is known for its sleek sports cars, but one enthusiast has taken things to a whole new level by turning a 1987 Porsche 944 into a six-wheeler ute.
Yes, you read that right - a Porsche with six wheels.
After 26 years of work, this unique creation is up for grabs at an auction in Germany, and it’s nothing short of, erm, eye-catching.
Three-axle Porsche
This wild build started life as a standard Porsche 944 before it was reimagined as a ute with three axles, borrowing the rear setup from an Audi 200 Turbo.
The extended chassis now boasts a massive rear bed lined with oak and fitted with an aluminium box to store the removable targa roof panels. It’s not just for show, though, as the bed features adjustable tie-down points, making it surprisingly practical.
With over 2500 hours poured into the build, this ute combines various Porsche parts, including headlights from a 924 Carrera GT and BBS wheels from a 993 Turbo.
It’s a mashup of Porsche goodness with a healthy dose of customisation, creating something you don't see every day.
Power and style to match
Under the bonnet sits a 3.0-litre four-cylinder engine pushing nearly 180kW. While not the car’s original engine, it packs plenty of punch for a one-of-a-kind build like this.
The manual gearbox keeps things engaging, though the listing is oddly silent on which rear wheels do the driving.
The exterior is impossible to miss, thanks to a bright orange paint job with black accents. Paired with those wide tyres - 205s up front, 255s at the back - it’s got a look that demands attention.
The interior hasn’t been forgotten in the transformation, either.
Custom ‘Porsche Pickup’ badges grace the steering wheel, and the bright orange seats carry the bold colour theme into the cabin.
Side sills reading ‘944S 6 Pickup’ give a nod to its new identity, while retaining some of that Porsche flair.
Yours for €99,990?
If you fancy owning this head-turning Porsche 944 six-wheeler ute, it’s listed for auction on Kickdown with a starting bid of €99,990 (around NZ$175,000).
Whether you see it as a quirky masterpiece or a bold statement, it’s certainly one Porsche the world won’t forget anytime soon.
