Dyson has long since abandoned the idea of developing its own car, but the technology company can now help you keep your ride pristine with a variation on the product it's best known for: a techy looking vacuum cleaner.

If you thought a vacuum cleaner couldn't be exciting and techy, you were wrong.

The company claims its new $499 Dyson Car+Boat is the most powerful portable vacuum cleaner you can buy. It says the new unit is the "ultimate" way to clean up awkward/small spaces (hence the Car+Boat name), including bedding and pet areas.

The motor spins at up 110,000rpm in boost mode and the unit can run for up to 50 minutes in low mode. Dyson says the fully sealed filtration system captures 99.9% of particles as small as 0.3 microns.

It comes with three different attachments" a Mini Motorised Tool with brush bar for dirt and hair, Combination Tool with a brush and wide nozzle, and Crevice Tool.

Crevice Tool does exactly what you'd expect it to do.

The Dyson Car+Boat is on sale now in New Zealand for $499. Yes, that's expensive, but it's still cheaper than the company's Supersonic hair dryer range. Priorities, people.
