If used, what year did you buy it used?

2022

How much did you pay? (including all on-road costs)

$35,000

What were your needs when you bought this car? Has it fulfilled those needs?

I wanted a new runabout car to take care of all the short and medium trips around town. It seemed a no brained to go electric at that time.

The Leaf has proved to be an excellent choice and has cut our fuel bills in half. We haven’t noticed any significant increase in our power consumption- we charge it at home at night and get about 6 days of trips from it. I have never had to fast charge it as we use our ICE for any long distance travel but am looking at upgrading to a Polestar or similar.

Safety features are great, cameras everywhere

What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you.

Not as ugly as the 24 and 30 kw versions.

Definite upgrade in terms of battery management and a range that gets us wherever we need to go.

Luxuries of heated seats and steering wheel mean we aren’t ever going back- you don’t know you’d want let alone use these features until you start and they become the new standard.

Ride is a little bit harsher than our other car but good enough. Steering has a quite light feeling compared with our other cars and you feel a bit less confident chucking it into a corner.

I like single pedal driving but everyone else drives normally.

What have you discovered since owning the car?

Nissan NZ are either completely useless or just don’t give a s..t about spares/parts.

Car was struck in the front left wheel and door by someone doing a u turn. We were to 10 -12 weeks which became 7 months. After 6 months the panel beaters were able to make it driveable while we waited for the replacements.

What do you like/dislike about the car?

I like to look, the ease of it all, the driving past petrol stations to conveniently charge up at home.

Lastly, would you buy this vehicle again?

Yes

Why would/wouldn't you buy it again?

Yes I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Excellent choice for what we wanted it to do.

My brother was looking at getting a 24 or 30 kw one but I persuaded him to go with a 40 and he has since done some serious kms since August around the South Island and loves it.
