What were your needs when you bought this car? Has it fulfilled those needs?
We were looking for a 7 seat SUV that could tow a 5 - 6 m boat and was comfortable for my wife who has an autoimmune condition. The Mazda has definitely exceeded our expectations as it swallows a huge amount of luggage or people and effortlessly pulls our boat. It is by far the most comfortable car we’ve had!
What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you.
Very well appointed, luxurious and technically capable, the CX9 definitely punches well above its price point. We test drove the car on the open road and found it very quiet with loads of power.
What have you discovered since owning the car?
Compared to the Highlander which was the only other option for us as the Pathfinder only had a CVT at that time the CX9 doesn’t have as good rear visibility for boat launching and the heater controls are not as well laid out. Other than that the CX9 wins hands down for power, comfort and economy.
What do you like/dislike about the car?
After 4 years and 35000kms we have had no problems. Servicing at Mazda has been very reasonably priced and the car has been faultless.
