The vehicle was purchased to tow a caravan and a race car. It is perfect for our needs. I wanted a vehicle that would be comfortable for my wife to travel in that had the size and towing capacity to haul the caravan or car trailer.

What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you.

The vehicle appealed because all the mechanical specs ticked the boxes. Tow rating, power and fuel economy were all high priorities. It also look really smart with upgraded wheels, a top spec canopy and a classy leather interior.

What have you discovered since owning the car?

It is matched our expectations perfectly. It is comfortable to travel in and hauls the gear effortlessly. It looks smart and has not given an once of trouble.

What do you like/dislike about the car?

There is nothing I dislike. It has great power and smooth with the trick 10 speed auto. Put it in sports mode and it comes alive.

Ford Ranger Sport V6 2023 👍

(including all on-road costs) $72,000 What were your needs when you bought this car? Has it fulfilled those needs? Looking for a replacement ute for my 2016 Mazda BT 50. Wanted another ute and looked at all the major brands. However on reflection and test driving, the new model T6 Ranger stood out as being new technology and new powertrain whereas other makes were using dated smaller capacity, less efficient engines and lower interior spec and technology. It was a no brainer What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you. After a lot of research I landed on the Ford Ranger. I definitely wanted the new "hero" V6 turbo diesel motor. The best value option to get the V6 was in the Sport model. Comes with quality leather interior, 10 inch touch screen To get the Wildtrack V6 would have cost a another $10k. Since purchasing the Ranger Sport Ford has now discontinued this model in V6 and only available in Bi Turbo 2l. What have you discovered since owning the car? The motor is awesome, quiet (car quiet), powerful and linked to a great 10speed auto. Gear changes are virtually imperceptible. Inside its comfortable and the control screen is intuitive and works well. This ute is a real step up from any other I have driven recently which includes the now very outdated HiLux What do you like/dislike about the car? Bland Graphics on the Sport model which can be resolved with some after market Sport V6 graphics on the side panel at rear like the Raptor Any other comments on the car? This is an amazing ute, loved the 3.2l 5 cylinder BT 50 but after driving the 3.0l turbo V6 diesel I can see what all the rave reviews are about. Yes Why would/wouldn't you buy it again? The whole package is exceptional for a ute. Quiet, powerful, comfortable, excellent towing and great tray size. It's a pearler, if you are in the market for a ute you have to test drive the 3.0l turbo V6
Ford Ranger Wildtrak X 2021

Has it fulfilled those needs? It was bought for a tow vehicle for towing our large caravan (3.2t) and to be the family car on out of town trips. It has been a great tow vehicle and comfortable family car. What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you. That at the time it was the best value for money ute on the market and Holden had shut its doors. What have you discovered since owning the car? That Ford were only biding their time for the next gen to come into production. That a 4 cylinder 2lt motor can tow 3 and a half ton. What do you like/dislike about the car? Was disappointed that being the top of the line Ranger that it lacked things like blindspot monitoring and the dual zone temperature control only has one fan. Any other comments on the car? While Ford didn't invest in any new technology apart from engine and gearbox into this model, it is still a great car to drive and will hold its own in the years to come. Only reason is because I have a next gen platinum on order and already know that the next gen are far more advanced than this model.
Ford Ranger Wildtrak X 2021

(including all on-road costs) 62990 What were your needs when you bought this car? Has it fulfilled those needs? We previously had Ranger XL and XLT through work but both had soft tonneau covers which left our possessions vulnerable to theft all the time, and more so during family trips and holidays. I bought my XLT when I retired but a holiday in the South Island highlighted it's weaknesses.... the soft cover and the 2WD. We decided to buy the Wildtrak X when we got back as it had just been traded in at our local dealer. Yes... it has fulfilled our needs. What were your initial thoughts about the car? Tell us why it appealed to you. It appealed as we liked the gold colour and it had low kms. However, after we bought it we found the previous owner hadn't taken very good care of it. A few visits back to the dealer were required within the first few weeks, and I also had to have it serviced within 2000km of buying it due to the oil being at the end of it's life. An unexpected cost of just under $700 a few weeks after buying the ute. I have put countless hours into cleaning it properly (it had thick dried mud on the underside) and trying to polish out the surface scratches. This is of course a reflection of the service provided by the dealer's groomers....NOT the quality of the vehicle. What have you discovered since owning the car? See above. In addition, the auto stop-start didn't work at all until the service (27400 kms ) After owning for a few weeks, the performance was much smoother and fuel economy was better. I found out that the vehicle adapts to the owner's driving style. I also had to fit the two tie-down loops which are in the PX1, PX2 and new gen models, but I knew about that before I bought it. What do you like/dislike about the car? I like the versatility of having a ute, especially one with 4WD and a locking cover. The interior finish is excellent, the sound system is very good, the gold colour is the best in my opinion, voice activation is great, park assist is handy in tight spaces, the Wildtrak X model has more street appeal compared with the Wildtrak. On the downside, it's a pity it doesn't have a CD player for us older owners, the engine noise inside the cab is crap compared to the 5 cyl 3.2 engines, and the wheels are not the nicest to look at! Any other comments on the car? Although it's my 3rd Ranger in 8 years, it's my first 2L and first Wildtrak and I've only owned it for 5 months. I'm really enjoying it now but it takes a bit of time to get your head round the smaller engine having more power than the 3.2L and the different engine sound in the cab. Would move to next gen model, or possibly downsize to a smaller vehicle if health and fitness become an issue in retirement.
