Xiaomi’s sophomore EV has officially arrived - and it’s no high-riding clone of the SU7 and SU7 Ultra.
Enter the Xiaomi YU7, a purpose-built luxury SUV that leans hard into premium polish, clever tech and ferocious performance.
Debuting in Beijing recently, it’s designed for “dynamic elites” and packs enough kit to make legacy marques nervous.
Shapely proportions, tech to burn
The YU7’s numbers tell a confident tale: at 4999 mm long with a 3000 mm wheelbase, it’s all sleek stance and low-slung power posture. A drag coefficient of just 0.245 Cd, achieved through no fewer than 40+ aerodynamic tweaks, makes it one of the slipperiest SUVs in the market.
Under the aluminium clamshell bonnet? A 141L frunk. On the corners? Optional 275mm rear tyres, cloaked in muscular arches.
Xiaomi didn’t just chase style points, though. The YU7’s triple-screen HyperVision panoramic display beams key data onto the lower windshield, merging heads-up convenience with retina-grade clarity.
Rear passengers get entertainment too, while everyone enjoys plush Nappa leather seats, ambient lighting, and a cabin lined with Oeko-Tex-certified soft-touch materials - even the baby could nap safely here.
508kW and zero gravity, please
Performance? Think supercar-rivalling. The dual-motor, all-wheel drive Max variant delivers 508kW, good for 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.23 seconds.
There’s also a 253 km/h top speed, five-mode adjustable air suspension and a tight 5.7 m turning radius - so it can hustle in the city just as easily as on a mountain pass.
Xiaomi’s HyperEngine V6s Plus uses segmented magnetic steel to reduce losses and stretch range. Paired with an 800V silicon-carbide architecture, the YU7 can fast-charge from 10 to 80% in just 12 minutes.
The Standard variant squeezes an impressive 835km (CLTC) from its 96.3kWh battery - making it the longest-range pure EV-SUV under 100kWh. Even the Max keeps things marathon-friendly with 770km.
A velvet hammer, with steel under skin
Safety is no afterthought. Xiaomi's Modena platform underpins the YU7's reinforced “armor-cage” structure - 90.2% of which is made from high-strength steel and aluminium.
New 2200 MPa ultra-high-strength steel, applied to critical zones, boosts crash resilience significantly. The SUV also gets Xiaomi’s full intelligent driving suite, including LiDAR, 4D mmWave radar, 11 HD cameras and a powerhouse 700 TOPS Nvidia Thor chip.
Pricing remains under wraps, but the official Chinese market launch is slated for July. Until then, Xiaomi fans can tide themselves over with a 1:18 scale model - perfect for a shelf, if not the driveway.
As Xiaomi won't be entering the global market for another few years, local fans can only watch as the YU7 makes its debut.
