German tuner Hof has transformed the Mercedes-AMG G-Class into a performance powerhouse, creating the 'Sir Class' as a tribute to Formula One icon Sir Lewis Hamilton.
This special edition pays homage to Hamilton’s 11-year tenure with the Mercedes-AMG Formula One team and his remarkable career.
Hof took the already formidable Mercedes-AMG G 63 and elevated it to unprecedented levels.
The standard 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, which produces 430kW in factory form, has been extensively reworked to deliver a staggering 1063kW and 1300Nm of torque. This dramatic increase enables the Sir Class to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 300 km/h, making it not only the fastest G-Class ever but also one of the swiftest SUVs globally.
To complement the enhanced performance, the SUV features a carbon-ceramic braking system and a chassis lowered by 32mm. These modifications improve aerodynamics and handling, ensuring the Sir Class is as agile as it is powerful.
The Sir Class sports a distinctive design, highlighted by Hof’s carbon-fibre body kit. Enlarged wheel arches, side skirts and vented bonnet contribute to its aggressive stance.
The paintwork, transitioning from silver to black, echoes the livery of Mercedes-AMG’s F1 cars, complete with Tiffany Green accents reminiscent of the team's branding.
Inside, the attention to detail continues. Green stitching adorns the seats and doors, while ambient lighting enhances the cabin.
The Yas Marina Circuit - the site of its unveiling and Hamilton’s final race with Mercedes-AMG - is etched onto the headliner, a subtle nod to the driver's storied career.
Only 11 units of the Sir Class will be produced, reflecting Hamilton’s years with the Silver Arrows. Each SUV features a unique F1-style butterfly steering wheel, drawing inspiration from the AMG One hypercar.
Priced from US$690,000 (around NZ$1.18 million), the Sir Class is a fitting farewell to a legendary partnership. Hamilton’s next chapter with Ferrari begins soon, but this custom SUV ensures his legacy with Mercedes-AMG remains etched in motorsport history.
