Quality clip exposes the layers behind a successful rally event
Motorsport is about so much more than just the drivers and teams. The amount of layers that build together to make a successful event run is extremely deep and comprehensive — from marshals and members of local council, to administrators, television crew, and PR.
It's a concept that Hayden Paddon and Hyundai New Zealand do well to try and explain in their latest video aiming to boost the profile of New Zealand's domestic rallying circuit. While the rally, which took place two weeks ago, wasn't exactly a success for Paddon and his newly built AP4 Hyundai i20, it was certainly a success for Whangarei — as underlined by the volume of supporters following the field around for the two-day event.
The video is the latest chapter in Paddon and Hyundai NZ's proactive drive to pump up the hype machine behind securing the return of Rally New Zealand, following on from their recent videos on the Rally of Otago and Paddon's more personal plea last week.
From where I'm sitting, they're pushing all the right buttons. This is the closest we've ever been to resolution.
