Toyota’s long-running Hiace van continues into its 21st model year in Japan with a fresh injection of style, courtesy of Toyota Gazoo Racing’s GR Parts division.
While the van itself remains mechanically unchanged, the new optional body kits aim to add a more rugged or sporty aesthetic, depending on the chosen variant. Note that this is the previous-generation Hiace to that sold in New Zealand since 2019, which remains on sale as a new vehicle in Japan.
Two styling packages

Toyota’s GR Parts catalogue now offers two distinct styling packages for the Hiace.
The GR Parts Version I is designed with off-road influences, featuring a bolt-on bumper insert with integrated LEDs, a metal-style skid plate, and GR-branded mudflaps available in red or black. The side skirts double as side steps, adding a functional touch.
For those after a sportier look, the GR Parts Version II adopts a lower stance with a front splitter, subtle side skirt extensions, and an optional deeper rear bumper with a miniature diffuser. Additional upgrades include 15-inch alloy wheels and a GR-branded number plate frame with anti-theft bolts.
Pricing and upgrade costs
Pricing for the GR Parts upgrades ranges from ¥15,510 (NZ$180) for the anti-theft number plate frame to ¥242,000 (NZ$2,800) for the 15-inch alloy wheels and tyres.
The Version I bodykit costs ¥231,000 (NZ$2,700), while the Version II bodykit is slightly more affordable at ¥143,000 (NZ$1,660). Mudflaps are available separately for ¥33,000 (NZ$380).
GR parts vs. Full-fledged GR models
Despite carrying the GR branding, these Hiace upgrades are purely cosmetic. Toyota categorises GR Parts below its more performance-oriented GR Sport, GR and GRMN models, indicating the Hiace is not officially part of Gazoo Racing’s core lineup.
However, this isn’t the first commercial vehicle to get the GR treatment - the Hilux GR Sport remains a full-fledged model with performance enhancements.
Modellista joins the party

For those seeking even more customisation, Modellista offers additional styling upgrades for the Hiace.
Their bodykits feature pronounced aero components, metal grille trim, and larger exhaust tips, while interior options include wood trim, LED lighting and leather upholstery. Functional accessories such as a roof-mounted fishing rod holder and a portable air sleep mat cater to the van’s versatile user base.
Modellista also offers chassis refinements, including upgraded shocks for improved ride comfort and additional rear bracing for enhanced rigidity. However, like the GR Parts offerings, these upgrades do not alter the van’s existing petrol and diesel powertrains.
A stylish twist on a practical workhorse
While the Hiace remains a utilitarian van at heart, Toyota’s latest GR Parts and Modellista accessories provide a unique way for owners to personalise their vehicle.
Whether opting for an off-road-inspired look or a motorsport-style upgrade, the 2025 Hiace proves that even a long-serving workhorse can embrace a bit of flair.
