Toyota is offering Japanese Land Cruiser 250 owners a way to change their SUV's face after purchase, with a dealer-installed conversion from its original triple-reflector headlamps to round units.
The service comes from Toyota Upgrade Factory, which Kinto operates under contract to Toyota. It uses genuine Toyota components and is aimed at eligible Japanese-market VX models of the generation sold here as the Prado.
A complete headlamp replacement
This is an assembly swap: the original headlamps come out and the round-design units go in. The replacement lights include automatic levelling, LED clearance lamps and daytime running lamps.

Toyota dealers carry out the work, including removing the front bumper and programming the ECU. The Japanese price is ¥204,600, including local tax, parts and installation. A warranty covers the upgrade for three years or 60,000km.

Eligible vehicles include the Japanese VX and VX First Edition produced from April 2024 onwards. The service also covers cars with the April 2026 update. Those eligibility details apply to Japan's range; Toyota has not confirmed a New Zealand offer or local pricing.
Toyota Upgrade Factory advises allowing around a month to arrange an appointment for the headlamp conversion. Installation itself is listed at roughly half a day to a full day.
A separate upgrade inside
The same announcement introduces a fifth-generation wireless phone charger retrofit, priced at ¥28,600 including Japanese tax and labour. It has twice the charging area of the fourth-generation unit and supports Qi fast charging, with charging performance dependent on the phone.
The charger has its own eligibility requirements, so availability of the headlamp conversion does not establish whether a particular vehicle can receive both upgrades.
