When IMF agent Ethan Hunt crashes a car into a massive rock and flips it end-over-end, he needs to know that it's both Rubicon Trail-certified and sustainable.

Know what you're thinking, but this is not an actual scene from Mission: Impossible.

That's surely why the Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid features in the latest Mission: Impossible movie, The Final Reckoning (in New Zealand cinemas from this week).

That and a product placement deal between Stellantis/Jeep and Paramount Pictures, which sees the Wrangler used by Tom Cruise (as Ethan Hunt) to pursue bad-guy Gabriel through a massive bunker in South Africa as the feature-film's action ramps up. Gabriel even has a bit of Jeep action of his own: a Gladiator ute.

Spoiler alert: it all ends with a massive crash, Hunt's Jeep going head-on with a massive rock and flipping end-over-end as he uses a seatbelt in a completely incorrect way.

Keep your eyes peeled and you'll see the Wrangler set-piece even gets a little screen time towards the end of the movie's official trailer.

For Jeep, the movie tieup also gives it the perfect excuse for a cute advertisement: in "Top Down Inspection", a couple is seen shopping for a Wrangler Rubicon X in a dealership Mission: Impossible style.
