Inkas transforms popular Prado into bulletproof SUV.

Inkas transforms popular Prado into bulletproof SUV.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is no stranger to hostile terrain, but Canadian firm Inkas Armored has pushed the envelope by converting the latest 250 Series into a full-scale mobile fortress.

Designed for high-risk personnel and tactical operations, this armoured Land Cruiser maintains a relatively subtle exterior while concealing military-grade reinforcement beneath the surface.

The vehicle's protective credentials include BR6 ballistic certification, capable of withstanding 7.62mm assault rifle fire and hand grenade blasts.

Inkas reinforces the entire passenger cell with ballistic steel plating, complemented by multi-layer ballistic glass, a rear bulkhead and armoured floors and pillars. Overlapping joints and sealed seams eliminate potential weak points, ensuring full envelope protection.

"The entire perimeter of the cabin is protected," states Inkas, highlighting the vehicle’s compliance with European CEN 1063 standards.

The company also integrates run-flat tyres, allowing the SUV to continue moving even with significant tyre damage.

Optional upgrades for extreme threat scenarios

Clients can tailor the build further with add-ons such as under-bonnet armour, a fire suppression system, an oxygen filtration unit, strobe lighting, night vision gear and a roof-mounted emergency escape hatch.

Reinforced bumpers and upgraded suspension compensate for the considerable increase in kerb weight.

No change to hybrid powertrain

Despite its newfound bulk, the armoured Land Cruiser Prado retains Toyota’s factory-fitted 3.4-litre twin-turbo V6 hybrid setup, delivering 243kW and 618Nm. Inkas has not indicated any powertrain modifications, relying instead on the existing drivetrain’s torque to handle the load.

While clearly designed for specialised use, the Inkas Land Cruiser Prado remains deceptively civil in appearance - making it a compelling choice for those needing covert yet uncompromising protection.
