Giltrap Group has confirmed it has signed a deal to be the official New Zealand distributor for Chinese brand Geely Auto.

A deal was signed in Sydney this month by by senior executives and representatives from Geely Auto and joint managing director of Giltrap Group, Michael Giltrap.
"NZ is crucial to our global expansion, and we are excited to strengthen our presence and partnerships here," says Li Lei, CEO of Geely Auto Australia. The alliances we’ve established with a leading distributor like Giltrap Group will be pivotal to Geely’s sustained growth and reputation in the region.
While the Geely brand will be relatively new to NZ (save a brief retail experiment well over a decade ago), many of the new-generation products from the wider group are already here - most already under the auspices of Giltrap Group.

Geely is the parent company of Volvo, Polestar and Lotus (all Giltrap brands in NZ). It's also a joint-venture partner with Mercedes-Benz for the Smart brand, which is also on the way here - albeit under a different importer, Auto Distributors.
Geely says it wants to be a "highly approachable and trusted brand in NZ". The first model to be offered here will be the Geely EX5, a mid-sized EV, arriving in 2025.
There's also potential for other, more specialised Geely brands to appear, including Zeekr and Lynk & Co.
