While you may have the look down, you can’t really claim true Miami Vice style excess until you have a white Testarossa parked up your driveway.
But fortunately for everyone who still harbours a deep and abiding love of the 1980s, the exact Ferrari from the later seasons of the classic cop show is again for sale!
It is said that Enzo Ferrari himself put forward the idea that the factory supply the producers of the show with two black Testarossas.
While the decision was made by director Michael Mann to paint the car white for better night shots, several replicas — based on DeTomaso Panteras — were also built for stunt work, but the two cars served as the “hero car” for the remainder of the show’s run.
The Testarossa now shows 16,124 miles on the clock and has been authenticated by both Ferrari North America and Ferrari Classiche. But the absolute best part of this car? It has to be the original “brick” hard-wired car phone that is still attached to the centre console. Pure awesome 80s-ness right there.

The proposal is intended to help city inspectors enforce rules that prohibit residents from storing cars that don’t work on their property — as cars in Florida only require a rear number plate, it is making the rule impossible to enforce if the car is backed up the driveway. ■An intoxicated driver in Canada recently abandoned his car after being chased by the police. The unnamed genius fled his car and jumped into what he thought was a taxi, yelling at the driver “Get me out of here buddy — cops are everywhere tonight!” Unfortunately for him, it wasn’t a taxi he had jumped into, but was actually a police cruiser. The police did however get him out of there, and straight to the nearest police station.
■Many people were late for work in a Seattle suburb recently thanks to an unidentified naked 24-year-old woman who crashed her car into a power pole at 1.30am, taking out power to more than 4000 houses. The woman, who was not injured, but was in and out of consciousness was taken to hospital to determine if she was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. We could take a pretty good guess ...
Ghostbusters’ new wheels a perfect choice
The director of the all-female remake of Ghostbusters, Paul Feig, has revealed what the ladies’ new ride will be. And we have to admit, it isn’t as bad as we might have imagined.
While the classic original ECTO-1 was a gorgeous 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance, the reboot is using a rather cool 1980s Cadillac Fleetwood hearse, which actually seems more appropriate than an ambulance.
While The Good Oil holds grave fears for any movie that attempts to come close to the magnificence of one of the greatest films ever made (the original Ghostbusters), at least the car seems to be on the right track.
We secretly feared the remake would feature something truly awful, like a modern car ... at least Fieg seems to be sticking to the “spirit” (sorry ... ) of the original.
BMW goes back to the future
Well, 2015 is over halfway through and the number of things Back to the Future 2 got wrong about this year just keeps growing.
We don’t regularly use fax machines, nor do we have self-lacing shoes. And while we do have 3D movies and Lexus has invented a hoverboard (kind of), flying cars are still a long way off.
And just to prove that, although the 1989 movie made 2015 look way more awesome than it has actually turned out to be, it was way off-base with its predictions. BMW has release a brilliant series of pictures featuring two 2015 Six Series convertibles — one that was predicted by Back to the Future 2 and the actual one we have today!
The Six Series convertible was featured quite prominently in the background of the 2015 street scene and features some a brilliantly garish two-tone colour scheme, a massive bonnet scoop and all the bits necessary for flight.
The actual 2015 Six Series features precisely none of those things, which is just sad and depressing really.
Lego + Batman + Red Bull = Awesome!
It had to happen one day — the perfect blend of Lego, Batman and Red Bull has finally collided in the UK.
At the Red Bull Soapbox Race (the UK version of our Red Bull Trolley Grand Prix) a team with the utterly brilliant name of “You Gotham Be Kidding Me” has built a full-size version of the Lego version of the Batmobile.
Because Lego itself is rather small and sort of impractical for a trolley race, the team actually built the Lego Batmobile out of your more traditional cardboard over a metal frame to ensure structural rigidity.
But it is not just the trolley that is amazing, their costumes are pretty damn awesome too, with life-size Lego Minifigs for all the team.
