Following its rollout of more highly specified "Launch Edition" models, Tesla New Zealand has now announced pricing and expected delivery dates for the mainstream Model Y RWD and AWD long-range models.

The RWD starts at $67,990, $5200 less than the Launch Edition announced earlier in the year. The AWD long range is $77,900.
Deliveries of the Launch Edition models previously ordered are on track for mid-May, with the first of the regular lineup (now available to order) in June.
The RWD offers a WLTP range of 466km (up 11km over the previous model) and 0-100km/h in 5.9sec, while the AWD is rated at 551km (up 18km) and 4.3sec.

Other upgrades over the previous model include power-recline/fold for the rear seat, rear touch screen, ambient lighting, "ultra-wideband" technology claimed to improve phone-key performance by a factory of 10, a front-bumper camera and active bonnet. There's a new magnetic loadspace cover that can be stowed in the cargo area when not in use.
A new front blind-spot camera has been added to the lower section of the front bumper, to help with parking or low-speed driving.
Tesla is claiming much-improved comfort and refinement from the new model, which has a new suspension setup and lower rolling resistance tyres. Road and wind noise are said to be down by 20-22%.
