Lexus has unveiled the LX Surf concept at the Pipe Pro event in Hawaii, presenting a beach-focused take on its flagship LX SUV.
The one-off concept marks an expanded partnership with the World Surf League (WSL) and integrates a range of features tailored for coastal adventures.
Coastal aesthetics, rugged enhancements
The LX Surf concept wears a striking matte blue finish complemented by a white roof, evoking classic surf culture aesthetics.
Black exterior accents, a custom exo-cage, and an illuminated rear ladder bolster its off-road functionality while ensuring easy roof rack access.
The luxury SUV sits on custom 20-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch all-terrain tyres, reinforcing its capability on sand and rough coastal terrain.
Surf-centric interior
Inside, the LX Surf retains its luxurious underpinnings, featuring tan leather upholstery and the premium amenities expected from Lexus' top-tier SUV.
However, the cargo area has been reworked into a practical space for surfers. A slide-out floor, integrated storage drawers, and a dedicated surfboard rack ensure seamless gear management.
Additional touches include a waxing table, a turf changing mat and a Dometic cooler for keeping refreshments chilled after a long session in the waves.
Unchanged performance
Lexus has not detailed any mechanical modifications, meaning the concept likely retains the standard LX’s twin-turbo 3.4-litre V6, producing 301kW and 649Nm of torque.
Power is delivered via a ten-speed automatic transmission and a full-time four-wheel-drive system, ensuring the SUV can handle beachside conditions with ease.
Surf's up!
The LX Surf concept coincides with Lexus’ extended collaboration with the WSL. The brand will now serve as a title partner for multiple surf competitions, including the WSL Awards, Pipe Pro, Trestle Pro, US Open of Surfing and the WSL Finals.
Lexus executive Lisa McQueen stated, "Lexus and the WSL are united by a shared drive for innovation, excellence and performance. This expanded partnership will allow us to elevate the fan experience to new heights, creating amazing moments for the surf community."
With its distinctive styling and surf-focused enhancements, the Lexus LX Surf concept shows off the brand's focus on adventure-driven luxury.
While it remains a one-off build, the concept hints at the brand’s willingness to explore lifestyle-oriented modifications for future models.
In other Lexus news, the brand recently posted its best-ever global sales performance in 2024, with its New Zealand arm shooting up to second place in the local luxury vehicle market.
