A more comfortable stop
Longer pauses in an electric vehicle are about to become a little more comfortable for Skoda drivers.
The brand has announced Camp Mode for the MySkoda app, a feature designed to maintain the driver’s chosen cabin temperature during extended stops and overnight stays. It is included in version 8.14 of the app, released on 14 July 2026.
Rather than leaving an EV’s climate system running without a clear plan, Camp Mode is intended to make a night in the car, a lengthy charging stop or a break between driving stints more manageable. The driver selects a preferred cabin temperature through the app, with the vehicle then maintaining it for the stop.
The practical upside is consistency. Instead of returning to a cold cabin after stepping away, the driver can set up the interior for rest while keeping an eye on the car's charge level. That could be useful whether the stop is planned or simply the result of a long journey taking more time than expected.
Battery and service conditions
The feature is aimed at Skoda’s electric-vehicle range, including the Epiq, Elroq, Enyaq and Peaq, provided the vehicle has an active Skoda Connect service.
There is one important condition: the high-voltage battery must have at least 30 percent charge before Camp Mode can be used. Skoda says no service-centre visit is required, with eligible vehicles receiving the capability through the updated app.
The feature is not a substitute for sensible planning around charging or camping rules, and the app's connected-service requirement still matters. But it does give the vehicle a clearer overnight setting than a normal short pre-conditioning command, which is generally designed around departure rather than a longer stay.
A local question remains
For EV owners who use their car beyond the usual commute, the addition could prove useful at campsites, during long-distance road trips or while waiting out a late ferry or charging session. Skoda has not confirmed New Zealand availability.
