Watch a drift car smoosh some innocent watermelons with Richard Hammond
In just over 10 days time the first episode of The Grand Tour will launch on Amazon Prime, and we still don't know anything about it.
Not to sound like I'm worrying — there's little doubt that it's going to be brilliant and hilarious and all those good things. It's just odd that this close to time, so little is known about the direction of the show; the locations its visiting, the cars its going to investigate, and so on.
It means that the opening show is most likely going to be a huge surprise, a joyous slap in the face to wake us all up from the post ‘New’-Top-Gear world.
The latest video from the crew is as vague as any other, with Richard Hammond educating us on the biology of watermelons and cones in potentially the most inaccurate way possible before they get annihilated by a drift car.
Upon review it appears that the drift car is that of Steve ‘Baggsy’ Biagioni — a former UK drift champion who pilots a V8-powered Nissan 240SX backed by Monster Energy. Indeed a post on the driver's Instagram page confirms it.
Where this all fits into an episode of the show, who knows. What I do know is that I'm excited.
