Porsche celebrates 25 years of the 911 GT3 with two new additions to the lineup.

Porsche has unveiled two new additions to its iconic 911 GT3 lineup, marking 25 years of the model's dominance on and off the track.

The 2025 Porsche 911 GT3 arrives in two distinct versions: a track-ready sports car featuring a prominent rear wing, and the understated GT3 Touring, designed for those seeking high performance without the extra flash.

Both variants are designed for racing enthusiasts and casual drivers alike, with significant enhancements in power, aerodynamics and customisation options.

Performance at its core

The new 911 GT3 is equipped with a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated boxer engine that generates a commanding 375kW and 450Nm of torque. This engine has been optimised to meet stricter emissions standards without compromising its renowned performance. The updated exhaust system includes particulate filters and catalytic converters, delivering a captivating yet compliant soundscape.

Porsche also offers both a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission and a 6-speed GT manual transmission, with a final drive ratio 8% shorter than its predecessor. This translates to a more exhilarating driving experience, especially when pushing the GT3 to its limits.

According to Porsche, the 911 GT3 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds (with the PDK gearbox) and tops out at 311 km/h, making it one of the fastest in its class. Drivers opting for the manual gearbox can enjoy a top speed of 313km/h.

Design enhancements

Both the 911 GT3 and its Touring variant boast significant aerodynamic improvements. Up front, a recontoured diffuser and redesigned spoiler lip contribute to enhanced downforce and optimised airflow.

The underbody fins have also been refined for greater stability at high speeds. Porsche’s advanced double-wishbone front axle, borrowed from the 911 GT3 RS, further boosts downforce, while the front ball joint has been lowered to reduce pitching when braking at speed.

At the rear, the standard GT3 model stands out with its large, reworked wing and angled side plates, enhancing stability on the track.

Meanwhile, the GT3 Touring preserves the classic, clean lines of the 911 by omitting the fixed wing and instead featuring a retractable rear spoiler. This feature offers an aerodynamic balance without sacrificing the car’s elegant silhouette.

Lighter, faster, stronger

Porsche has implemented a comprehensive lightweight strategy across the new GT3 range. Aluminium wheels, now available in a striking silver, reduce unsprung mass by over 1.5kg compared to the previous model.

Further weight savings come from a 40Ah lithium-ion battery, shaving off four kilograms. For those who demand the lightest configuration, the GT3 weighs in at just 1420kg. Additionally, the Weissach package introduces magnesium wheels, cutting another nine kilograms.

The GT3’s lightweight construction extends to its optional sports bucket seats made from carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP), offering both durability and comfort for track and road use. The seats can be heated and come with manual longitudinal adjustment, while removable headrest padding enhances comfort for helmeted drivers on the circuit.

Touring Package

The 911 GT3 with the Touring package, inspired by the 1973 Carrera RS 2.7, forgoes the aggressive rear wing in favour of an extendable spoiler for a more refined aesthetic.

The interior is dressed in premium leather, echoing classic Porsche design while providing a high-quality, sporty atmosphere. For the first time, the Touring package also comes with an optional rear seat, allowing the car to transform into a more practical, daily-driving sports car.

The Touring package appeals to enthusiasts like Porsche’s brand ambassador Walter Röhrl, who notes, “On winding country roads, the improved steering instills even more confidence. The shorter gear ratio adds to the driving pleasure, making it even more engaging than its predecessor.”

Precision engineering for the track

True to its motorsport roots, the 911 GT3 is equipped with an innovative anti-dive suspension system. The optimised damper tuning ensures a steady ride over bumps and kerbs while reducing the car’s tendency to pitch forward when braking from high speeds.

According to Jörg Bergmeister, another Porsche brand ambassador, “The car handles even better on the track, with more control over every bump and kerb.”

Porsche continues to prioritise driver experience, offering a “Track Screen” display mode in the instrument panel. This mode reduces the dashboard’s digital display to essential data such as tyre pressure, oil temperature, and fuel level, helping drivers stay focused on the road or track.

Porsche has also developed several bespoke packages for the new GT3, allowing drivers to customise the vehicle according to their needs. The Weissach package offers the most track-focused options, including CFRP components, a roll cage and additional leather and Race-Tex upholstery.

Meanwhile, the Leichtbau (lightweight) package for the Touring variant features a painted roof, magnesium wheels, and lighter door panels.

Both the standard GT3 and Touring models can be further enhanced with Porsche’s Clubsport package, available at no extra cost. This package includes a steel roll cage, a 6-point harness for the driver, and a fire extinguisher — ideal for those seeking to take their GT3 straight from the road to the racetrack.

With the release of the new 911 GT3 and GT3 Touring, Porsche continues to solidify its place at the pinnacle of sports car engineering.

Both models offer an exhilarating mix of track-ready performance and day-to-day usability, coupled with extensive customisation options.
