Porsche has integrated YouTube into its infotainment systems across select models, providing new entertainment options for passengers.
The move follows its debut on the Macan Electric, extending to the 911, Cayenne, Panamera and Taycan.
In models equipped with an optional passenger display - such as the Cayenne, Panamera and Taycan - YouTube can be streamed while the car is in motion. Content is restricted to the passenger screen, ensuring the driver remains focused. This update enhances in-car entertainment for front-seat passengers, catering to long journeys or downtime.
For the Porsche 911, which lacks a passenger display, YouTube playback is limited to the central infotainment screen and only functions when the vehicle is stationary.
Similarly, when any compatible model is parked, the app becomes accessible on the primary display, allowing a shared viewing experience.
All newly delivered Porsche vehicles in the affected range will include YouTube pre-installed. Existing owners can access the feature through a complimentary over-the-air software update.
Porsche isn’t alone in this integration. Vehicles with Google’s built-in software, such as those from Volvo and Polestar, are also adopting the feature. Mercedes-Benz is also set to incorporate YouTube through its MB.OS platform.
With EVs often spending significant time at charging stations, the addition of YouTube caters to evolving customer needs, blending convenience with entertainment.
