Oddball Ferrari resurfaces.

Oddball Ferrari resurfaces.

  • The one-off Ferrari Conciso is listed through RM Sotheby's Sealed after a major recent restoration.
  • Michalak Design rebodied a 328 GTS in aluminium while retaining the Ferrari chassis and running gear.
  • The Conciso weighs 889kg and is claimed to reach 274km/h thanks to its lighter body.

The Ferrari nobody recognises

Ferrari Conciso

The Ferrari Conciso is back for another round of public confusion.

The one-off Michalak Design creation, based on a Ferrari 328 GTS, is currently listed through RM Sotheby's Sealed in the United States.

It is a Ferrari in the mechanical sense, but not in the familiar visual one.

Michalak Design kept the 328 GTS chassis and running gear, then wrapped them in bespoke aluminium bodywork with no doors, a low-cut windscreen and a minimalist cabin. Ferrari was not involved in the conversion.

Less weight, more theatre

The result is dramatically lighter than the donor car.

The Conciso weighs 889kg, about 363kg less than the 328 GTS beneath it. RM Sotheby's says the weight saving was about 30%.

The performance claims are suitably period-correct.

The car is said to reach 0-96km/h in about five seconds, while top speed is listed at 274km/h. That pace comes from weight reduction rather than a new engine, because the 328 GTS powertrain was left in place.

A show-car life continues

Ferrari Conciso

The Conciso made its public debut at the 1993 Frankfurt Motor Show and was also shown at the 1994 Geneva Motor Show. It later moved through North American and Belgian ownership, returned to the United States in 2018 and appeared on Jay Leno's Garage.

Its recent history is part of the new auction hook. The car underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2022 and 2023, with more than EUR50,000 spent, including over EUR23,000 on repainting it in Rosso Corsa and Gunmetal Gray.

RM Sotheby's lists the estimate as available upon request. Because the car is being offered through the Sealed platform, the final sale price will not be published. For anyone who thinks modern Ferraris are too recognisable, the Conciso remains a very strange solution.
