Sony and Polyphony Digital are marking the PlayStation gaming console's 30th anniversary with the release of My First Gran Turismo, a free-to-play title launching on December 6.
Available for PS4 and PS5, the game is designed to introduce players of all ages to the joys of driving, echoing the goals of the original Gran Turismo and newer titles like Gran Turismo 7.
Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of the franchise and president of Polyphony Digital, described the release as a nod to the roots of the series. "This game pays tribute to the origins of the first Gran Turismo, where players of all generations discovered the joys of driving,” Yamauchi said, highlighting the game’s approachable yet immersive design.
What to expect from My First Gran Turismo
The game features three Race Events, three Time Trials and three Music Rally stages, along with classic tracks such as Deep Forest Raceway, Kyoto Driving Park and Trial Mountain Circuit.
Additionally, it includes a suite of License Tests and challenges aimed at refining players’ skills.
Players can collect up to 18 vehicles, with confirmed models including the 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T, 1983 Toyota AE86, 2003 Audi TT Coupe and 2015 Mazda MX-5 Miata. Iconic classics like the Lamborghini Countach and Volvo 240 SE also make appearances.

My First Gran Turismo caters to a wide audience, with tutorials on cornering, braking and acceleration.
Yamauchi explained that the License Center focuses on an intuitive approach, helping players "build confidence one lap at a time."
Releasing on December 6, the game offers fans a nostalgic yet accessible entry point into the series, blending simplicity with the spirit of its iconic predecessors.
