The 2017 Audi RS Q3 Performance has been unveiled with, as you’d expect, more power and torque than the regular RS Q3.
Under the bonnet there’s a different version of the RS Q3’s 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine, which now boasts 270kW of power, as well as 465Nm of torque available between 1625 and 5500rpm. That’s up 20kW and 15Nm on the run-of-the-mill RS Q3, and line-ball with the numbers quoted for the 2.5-litre motor used in the RS3 Sportback.
Drive is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. With the S-tronic gearbox set to launch control, Audi claims that the RS Q3 Performance can cover the 0-100km/h standard in 4.4 seconds, down significantly from the RS Q3’s 5.2 second mark.
The standard automatic engine stop/start and energy recuperation systems are said to help the RS Q3 to a NEDC fuel consumption figure of 8.6L/100km.
Stopping power comes courtesy of 365mm discs up front, matched with eight-piston callipers.
European RS Q3 Performance models will ride on standard 20-inch alloy wheels.
Visually, the new model is distinguished from its non-Performance siblings by a collection of faux-titanium matte-finished elements, including air inlet frame, border of the single-frame grille, side window frames, wing mirror covers, roof rails, and rear spoiler and diffuser edging.
The Audi RS Q3 Performance will make its debut at the Geneva motor show before entering European showrooms from the second quarter of 2016.
