The MG Car Club Auckland is hosting a special event this Sunday, December 8th, to commemorate the end of MG's centenary year.

The highlight of the event will be a unique display of iconic MG sports cars, and attendees will have the opportunity to see a wide range of models spanning the marque's 100-year history, from the early days to the recently released 2024 MG Cyberster all-electric roadster.

This weekend's event will also feature a special tribute to owners whose involvement with MG extends back over 50 years or more, with attendees being able to hear firsthand accounts from these long-time MG enthusiasts that, according to organisers, will “offer a fascinating insight to the enthusiasm and enjoyment which owning these iconic cars has brought.”

One particularly noteworthy vehicle that will be on display this Sunday is the 1955 MG TF that belonged to 1967 Formula 1 World Champion Denny Hulme.

Hulme purchased this car new in 1955 and later repurchased it in the early 1970s. The car is currently owned by Hulme's wife, Greeta.

Organisers say that the event, which is free to the public, will offer a “fascinating insight” into the history of MG and the enduring passion of its enthusiasts, and will take place from 10 am to 12:30 pm at Vellenoweth Green on Tamaki Drive in St Heliers, Auckland.
