Mercedes-Benz has unveiled I am Mercedes, a new women’s Eau de Parfum whose faceted bottle draws on the shape of its three-pointed star.
A 1968 280 SL Pagoda Cabriolet shares the spotlight in the launch photographs, placing a familiar piece of Mercedes history beside the new scent.
Star cut into glass
Master perfumer Sophie Labbé created the fragrance with fresh neroli, bergamot and pink pepper at the top. Orange blossom, jasmine and ylang-ylang form its floral centre, while vanilla, woody notes and musk make up the base. It comes in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml Eau de Parfum sizes.
The diamond-cut glass bottle subtly reinterprets the Mercedes star. It holds salmon-pink perfume beneath a metallic pink cap, with “I am Mercedes” written around the neck. The angular glass catches the light in the same way as the emblem at its centre.

A Pagoda in the picture
In the photographs, the bottle sits on the Pagoda’s bonnet near its chrome detail and a cluster of white flowers. Another frame places a woman beside the classic convertible. The 280 SL’s shape gives the perfume a suitably elegant travelling companion, even though the star on the bottle is considerably smaller.

Mercedes-Benz links the release to two women in its history. Mercedes Jellinek gave the marque its name, while Bertha Benz completed the first successful long-distance motor-car journey in August 1888, travelling from Mannheim to Pforzheim. Their stories underpin the fragrance’s emphasis on women choosing their own path.
The perfume continues Mercedes-Benz’s licensing partnership with Give Back Beauty, which has also produced fragrance ranges for Mercedes-AMG and Maybach. Mercedes-Benz has not disclosed New Zealand availability or pricing for I am Mercedes.
