Lexus New Zealand has revealed the pricing for the much anticipated LBX Morizo RR, a new compact SUV with distinct Toyota Gazoo Racing underpinnings.
Developed with the hands-on involvement of Akio Toyoda, Toyota's Chairman and resident motorsport enthusiast, the Morizo RR elevates the already compelling LBX compact SUV with enhanced performance and extra luxury.
Performance engineering
The LBX Morizo RR features a turbocharged 1.6-litre inline three-cylinder engine derived from Toyota's GR range of performance cars, which includes the GR Yaris and GR Corolla.
This formidable power plant delivers 206kW and 390Nm of torque and features an electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The engineering team is said to have honed the car’s aerodynamics, collaborating with Lexus Pathfinder Air Racing to maximise performance.
Lexus has ensured that every element of the car, from the suspension to the brakes, enhances its dynamic handling. According to Akio Toyoda, the Morizo RR embodies the joy of driving, offering “exhilarating torque and power.”
Distinctive design and features

Visually, the LBX Morizo RR stands apart with 19-inch Super Gloss Black Metallic alloy wheels and widened wheel arches.
The car’s profile is slightly lower, with the driver's seat lowered by 10mm for a more connected driving feel.
Inside, the Morizo RR is as luxurious as it is sporty, featuring semi-Aniline leather seats, Ultrasuede accents and a 13-speaker Mark Levinson audio system.
Lexus New Zealand's Vice President Andrew Davis commented, “LBX Morizo RR is a compact luxury car for casual driving, but when a car enthusiast decides to enjoy some spirited driving, the car is capable of delivering dynamic performance that does not disappoint.”
New Zealand pricing and availability
At $89,900, the LBX Morizo RR offers an intriguing package for those seeking a blend of luxury and performance at an attractive price point.
Set to arrive in New Zealand in February 2025, this newest addition to the Lexus stable will be priced at $89,900 (plus on-road costs). That's a giant leap from the standard LBX's $58,900 entry point, but Lexus is banking on its enhancements to the Morizo RR being enough to sway the local market.
