Rally fans and motorsport enthusiasts have a rare opportunity to own a piece of history, as Ken Block's iconic 2004 Subaru Impreza RS rally car is currently up for auction.
The vehicle, which famously adorned the Monster Energy #43 livery and saw Block compete against legends like Colin McRae and Travis Pastrana, is currently listed on the classic car auction platform Bring a Trailer.
This Impreza RS wasn't your average showroom model. In 2006, Block sent the car to Vermont SportsCar, where it received a comprehensive transformation into an Open Class competition beast.
The engine upgrades include improved cooling components, a Prodrive 34mm turbo restrictor, a MoTeC ECU, and a higher-flow fuel pump. The drivetrain features upgraded Cusco front and rear limited-slip differentials, with a driver-controlled centre differential offering optimal power distribution. The suspension system also benefits from Öhlins shocks, while an underbody armour kit safeguards vital components from the rigours of rally racing.
While Block and co-driver Alex Gelsomino primarily piloted the Impreza during their 2006 X Games campaign, it also saw action in other rally events, leaving its mark on the motorsport world.
The car currently boasts a bid of over US$46,000 (around NZ$75k), and with nine days remaining in the auction, it's expected to fetch a significantly higher price. This reflects not only the vehicle's impressive specifications and competition history but also its association with the late, great Ken Block.
Block, who passed away earlier this year in a snowmobile accident, was a beloved figure in the automotive world, known for his incredible driving skills, infectious personality, and iconic Gymkhana videos. Block's final film, Electrickhana TWO, was also recently unveiled and should be a fitting send-off for a true motorsport legend.
