Earlier this month, we reported on the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster ute's impending launch at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Now Ineos at Goodwood has also previewed the future of its brand and model lineup: hydrogen power.

“The hydrogen-powered Grenadier Demonstrator is an extraordinary vehicle, capable of doing everything a conventionally powered Grenadier can do but with zero emissions. It shows Ineos's determination to make supremely capable cars that will help us reach net zero,” said Lynn Calder, CEO of Ineos Automotive.

In development since last year, the hydrogen fuel-cell Ineos Grenadier 4x4 uses a BMW-sourced powertrain, presumably similar to the one found on the BMW iX5 Hydrogen prototype.

The Grenadier platform is already flexible, so Ineos only modified the ladder frame chassis and rear axle to accomodate the electric drive units. Ineos says it enables torque vectoring drive control to each rear wheel.

This development leads to what Ineos calls "gecko capability," which entails "outstanding control and manoeuvrability in all off-road conditions," plus an enhanced turning circle and on-road driving dynamics.

The Ineos Grenadier 4x4 fuel cell electric vehicle (EV) and other Ineos battery electric vehicles (BEVs) will launch in 2026, barring any development issues.
